The Advance Payments Program (APP) is a federal loan program administered by Manitoba Crop Alliance (MCA). It offers Canadian farmers marketing flexibility through interest-free and low-interest cash advances.
UPDATE: As of Sept. 16, 2025, Agriculture and Agri-Food Canada has increased the interest-free limit for APP cash advances on canola from $250,000 to $500,000 for the 2025 and 2026 program years.
For 2025, farmers can receive up to $1 million in financing, with up to $500,000 interest-free on canola and up to $250,000 interest-free on other eligible commodities, plus the remaining balance at our interest-bearing rate of prime minus 0.50%.
This change will apply to new advances automatically. We are currently reaching out to clients with existing canola advances so they can take advantage of the new interest-free amount. Those clients will be required to sign and return the required amendment form.
Manitoba Corn Growers Association, a founding member of MCA, had been an APP administrator since 1981. MCA proudly assumed administration of the APP from the Manitoba Corn Growers Association on Aug. 1, 2020.
